The Van Schaick Mansion Project

Please Help Us Preserve This Treasure!

The General Peter Gansevoort Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution have acquired the mansion but we still need your assistance to help us preserve its rich heritage.

Our Chapter has special ties to the mansion. Our chapter is named for General Peter Gansevoort. The General married Catherine Van Schaick on January 12, 1778 at the mansion.

Your tax deductible contribution will help us to succeed in preserving our historical heritage.

The house is open for tours by appointment.

We are in the process of collecting appropriate furnishings to restore the Dutch colonial nature of the house. We have displays from several collections including period furniture from Alice Shelp (a Van Schaick decendant), and collections from the New York State Museum. These displays are changed several times a year so you will experience a different aspect of our colonial heritage on each visit.

We also have a continuing need for volunteers to guide tours.
